ASSA ABLOY Group regional divisions manufacture and sell mechanical and electromechanical locks, digital door locks, cylinders and security doors adapted to the local market’s standards and security requirements. The global divisions manufacture and sell electronic access control, identification products and entrance automation on the global market.

EMEA

EMEA is the leader in its product areas in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The commercial segment accounts for around 60 percent of sales and the residential segment for 40 percent. EMEA comprises a large number of Group companies with a good knowledge of their local and in many respects diverse markets. Products are sold primarily through a number of distribution channels, but also directly to end-users.

Americas

The majority of sales are in the US and Canada, where ASSA ABLOY has an extensive sales organization and sells its products through distributors. Institutional and commercial customers are the largest end-customer segments. These segments account for 85 percent of sales, while the private residential segment accounts for 15 percent of sales.

Sales in South America and Mexico take place mainly through distributors, wholesalers and home improvement stores. Sales in these markets are more evenly distributed between the non-residential and residential segments

Asia Pacific

The Asian countries are predominately emerging markets without established security standards. New construction accounts for around three-quarters of sales. In the Chinese market the same types of lock, handle and hardware are often used in both homes and workplaces.

The production units in China also produce for ASSA ABLOY’s other divisions. Australia and New Zealand are mature markets with established lock standards, where renovations and upgrades account for the majority of sales.

Global Technologies

Global Technologies covers two business areas, HID Global for secure identity management and ASSA ABLOY Hospitality providing solutions predominantly for hotels and cruise ships.

HID Global continues to expand in line with growing global demand for secure identity solutions and is well positioned as demand grows for mobile (wireless) solutions. The global product strategy is to gain a large share of the fast-growing electronic identity and access control market and to develop electronic door opening solutions in collaboration with other group operations.

ASSA ABLOY Hospitality has established itself as a global market leader in RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology and online wireless technologies. These provide hotels and hotel guests with considerably more secure, flexible and user-friendly locks and opportunities for mobile solutions and major energy savings. Our solutions are installed in 7 million hotel rooms in 42,000 hotels globally. 

Offering: 

  • HID Global: Secure identity solutions, primarily in identity and access management, and in contactless identification technology solutions.
  • ASSA ABLOY Hospitality: Electronic lock systems and safes for hotels and cruise ships.

Entrance Systems

Entrance Systems is a global leader in entrance automation with sales companies in 35 countries and distributors in 90 countries. Service operations account for nearly one-third of sales.  

The division leads the development towards energy efficient and sustainable solutions and offers a wide range of products to control energy consumption.

Strengthening presence in emerging markets is a priority task with the ambition of increasing the share to 25 percent of the division's total sales.

Offering: Products, service and components in entrance automation. The product range includes automatic swing, sliding and revolving doors, industrial doors, garage doors, high-performance doors, docking solutions, hangar doors, gate automation, components for overhead sectional doors and sensors.
